Quantization of energy

The historical origin of quantum theory is usually placed in the year 1900, when Max Planck studied the radiation emitted by hot bodies. In order to correctly reproduce the experimental results, Planck proposed that energy was not exchanged in a completely continuous manner, but in discrete amounts later called quanta.
