A procedure is a set of defined actions that, combined with technology and people's actions, produce expected results. Procedures can be of two fundamentally different types, depending on who or what provides the key knowledge for achieving the result: processes or practices.
Processes

Procedures that, together with technology, provide the key knowledge for achieving the result. In production systems that use processes, people "help" the process.
