Apariencia
A kanban board is a visual management tool that represents the status of work in progress. Kanban visual management practices serve two complementary purposes: managing the workflow and radiating information. A board can serve either of these purposes or both at once; in practice, if it is used to manage the flow, it inevitably also displays information about the work being tracked.
1. Managing the workflow
Basic structure
The position of each card on the board reflects the status of the work it represents. The usual minimum states on a kanban board are:
- To do: committed work that has not yet started.
- In progress: work that has started but is not done.
- Done: work that has been completed and verified.

In some cases it is useful to include additional states depending on the type of work: in review, in testing, validated, in deployment, etc. The order of the items in the "to do" area reflects the planned sequence according to priorities. The units being tracked can be tasks, user stories, or epics, depending on how the board is used.
