When analyzing the evolution of the Scrum Master in the age of AI, there is one idea I keep seeing reflected in teams and organizations: when producing becomes easier, deciding becomes harder.

Today we can generate code, documents, analyses, or proposals at a speed that seemed impossible just a few years ago.

But generating is not deciding.

And generating does not necessarily create value either.

That is why I believe the important conversation is no longer: How much have we produced

But rather: • What is truly worth keeping? • Who has the judgement to validate it? • What risks are we accepting? • How do we know it adds value? • What is the team learning during the process?

What interests me most about the evolution of Scrum Master 5.0 is not the incorporation of AI.

It is the recognition of a reality that many of us are already living: when producing stops being the bottleneck, the quality of decisions takes its place.

AI can help us generate more.

But producing faster does not mean creating more value.

In fact, I suspect that the competitive advantage of the coming years will not lie in who uses the most AI.

It will lie in who develops better judgement to turn that capacity into higher-quality decisions.

Because technology multiplies capacity.

But it is still judgement that determines the outcome.

Where is the real bottleneck in your team today: in producing, or in deciding what is worth producing?
