To Help or to Watch?

A Scrum Manager strip

Four-panel comic strip: the manager introduces the team to the new AI on the screen, which is there to help; the AI gives its first report: how many times Dani has typed and how many times he has gone for water; Dani hides his glass behind his back and the AI reports that he is hiding it; the validator asks whether they brought it in to help or to count glasses, the manager tells the AI to switch the counter off, and the AI complies and adds that the validator was on her fifth coffee.
The concept

Without a safe environment, where people feel free to speak up and trust those around them, ideas go unshared and problems get hidden. That is why, when bringing in artificial intelligence, leadership has to make clear what it is there for: to empower the team's work, or to monitor and replace it? The slightest doubt is enough to create a hostile environment in which demotivation and distrust slowly grow until they undermine the team's commitment. A safe environment cannot be imposed: it emerges when leaders are transparent and lead by example, including in the role they give to AI.
