Skill Points

(SPs)

Knowledge that is not used is forgotten.

A certificate obtained 5 years ago does not prove that its holder still masters what they learned. Skills need to be kept in practice and renewed over time.

That is why skill points (SPs) help communicate at a glance whether the holder stays up to date.

They decrease by 20% each year once the first calendar year since they were obtained has passed. They are earned and increased through training, and can also be renewed with work experience.

How to update SPs

If you already have a Scrum Manager profile with SPs, these methods are available to you:

The number of SPs depends on the type of training activity.

SPs for these activities can be requested through the request form in the members area.

Scrum Manager core exam

  • Scrum Master course and/or exam: 150 SPs
  • AgiLevel course and/or exam: 75 SPs

Another certification activity offered by a Scrum Manager training center ("Type A" activity)

  • The activity's information page on the center's website usually includes this information
Request SPs for certified training

As an Agile Club member you can request SPs for agile training received through an organization outside Scrum Manager ("Type B" activity)

  • In-person training: 1 SP per teaching hour
  • Online training: 1 SP per hour of study estimated in the activity description

Request SPs for non-certified training

* Notes in case of retaking the same exam:

  • Within less than 2 years: it does not accumulate SPs or increase the evaluation grade.
  • Within less than 4 years (and more than two): it adds 50% of the score set for that exam (the % lost in that period is recovered).
  • If the course was taken more than 4 years ago, the full evaluation score of the exam is counted (the % lost in that period is recovered).

As an Agile Club member you can request an increase of 40 SPs per year if you are performing an agile role or working with agile frameworks and/or methodologies.

The request form is located in the members area.

Request SPs

As an Agile Club member you can also request SPs for dissemination or research work related to agile management. This includes posts, academic articles, publications, talks…

The number of SPs varies according to the topic, length, originality and rigor of each work.

To request SPs of this kind, contact admin@scrummanager.com

Academic levels

Depending on the number of SPs, 3 academic levels are distinguished:

From 0 to 100 SPs

It certifies sufficient knowledge to carry out solid professional performance in projects managed within a standard scrum framework.

From 100 to 200 SPs

It certifies the additional knowledge of flexibility in the implementation of and work with agile practices.

From 200 SPs upwards

It certifies advanced and specialized knowledge of agile management practices and frameworks, in proportion to the certified degree.

350+ SPs

In a student's academic record the maximum number of visible SPs is 350 points. Once 350 points are exceeded, the academic information shown will display 350+.
